Anyone performing work on pre-1978 homes who will be disturbing a painted surface is required to comply with the EPA Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule. This requires that at least one person employed by the company has taken the EPA Lead Renovator Certification Course, and also that the company is registered with the EPA as a Lead Safe Certified firm by following the steps below. Even if you work for yourself as a Sole Proprietor, you still need to complete this second Firm Certification step to be in full compliance.
